Disclosure Policy

I have a dry, very technical-sounding disclosure policy at the bottom of this page, and there's nothing wrong with it. But after talking with some people I trust greatly, they made me realize that it doesn't really say what I want to say. So, I decided it's time to elaborate a bit on just what it is that I do here.

First and foremost, I write about things I like, and things I think you might like too. So far, it's been mostly nail polish-related (as of October 14, 2010), but I have a feeling I'll be writing more about makeup as the weather turns cooler. Some of the things I write about I've bought, some were gifts, and lately I've been lucky enough to receive some press samples. Some of those I write about, and some I don't. The thing to remember is that I'm not going to write about something just because it was sent to me for free.

Right now, even if I didn't get another new thing ever, I've got enough stuff and ideas to keep me blogging at least through August of 2011. Between nail art, polishes I haven't tried, layering experiments, and just plain Laynie silliness, I don't need anything sent to me- I have more than enough stuff to blog about. It's what got me started blogging in the first place! I don't get paid to blog, and even if I did, I don't think I'd be able to write something I didn't believe. I'm just not wired that way.

So whatever you see me using on the blog, I'm using because I like it. I'm using it because it's the best thing I have to create the look or effect I'm trying to create. I'm not using it because I might get paid for it, or because I have some hidden agenda. Any opinions I share are my own, and they're my honest opinions.

Also for the record, if I happen to be sent a product I don't like, I won't talk about it. I'm a firm believer that any press is good press, so even if I write about how much it sucks, that's still giving it press. Instead, I'd rather spend my time talking about the things I like and spreading positivity. It's sort of a theme in my life, if you pay attention!

So there. :D
