Dr.'s Remedy Hot Hot Hot Summer 2011 Collection- ON ME!

You know, I wrote about the Dr.'s Remedy Summer 2011 collection a few days back, but the press release photos just did NOT do these beauties justice! Once I got these in my hands, I couldn't wait to put them on immediately!

Unfortunately, the metallic colors didn't fare so well over the deep color I had on already, so I had to take it all off and start over. Awww, shucks, such a shame... more time playing with my polish! *wink* Don't worry, I ended up with lovely shots of all the colors, and I'll share them all with you after the jump!

I'm so excited about these colors I don't even know where to start. I did a skittles manicure on my left hand for swatching purposes and got several compliments from strangers! Not only did they all think the colors looked gorgeous together, they all agreed with me that it was hard to pick a single favorite! I think I may have spurred some sales...

Let's start with my least favorite color of the bunch- NURTURE Nude Pink. There's absolutely nothing wrong with this color, as it's an absolutely lovely soft pink that's almost skin tone. (Would this be almost "better than a band aid?" I'm not quite sure...) In the bottle it looks much cooler-toned, and has a gorgeous shimmer to it. However, something about it made me wonder if this shimmer would show on the nail.

As you can see, it doesn't. That's ok, though, because it's still a nice color if you aren't like me and addicted to colors that scream out, "HEY WORLD, LOOK AT ME!!" This could be great for a french manicure too, I think, as it's kind of sheer. I had to do three or four coats to make it opaque, so if you mind VNL this may not be a good polish for you. Overall, I like it, although it will definitely be going into my swap pile.

Next I want to share the metallic colors with you, and I absolutely love them all. The first color I went for was BOLD Baby Blue, which isn't all that babyish but is an utterly divine blue! I applied two even coats of this, and was satisfied with the coverage. This is one of my husband's favorite colors, so it was the first color I put on. He even thought it was pretty, and he's fairly indifferent to my polishes.

The biggest issue with this polish (and the next two, actually) are the brushstrokes. It's possible to avoid them but it's pretty fussy work, and these polishes dry so quickly that it can be a bit frustrating to apply them. Still, this blue is so dreamy that I have no problem at all dealing with the brush strokes. This may end up as one of my favorites!

Next comes GLEE Gold. For some reason, the name of this one strikes me as strange, but I guess with the popularity of Glee on TV it's understandable. The name is the only part of the polish I'm not in love with!

GLEE Gold is a basic fairly cool-toned gold polish, metallic and gorgeous. The brush strokes aren't as noticeable with this color as they are with the blue, thankfully. Also, along with the gold shimmer are tiny little particles of sparkle. I'm not sure if they're glass flecks, micro glitter, or just large shimmer, but they keep this from being just a plain gold. They also aren't enough to make it really glittery. It's just gorgeous!

Again, I applied two even coats and this dried super fast. That's something I absolutely love about Dr.'s Remedy polishes- they dry quickly and wear like iron even without a basecoat! LOVE these!!

Then we come to TRANQUIL Tangerine, and baby there's nothing tranquil about this polish! It's not as bright as some of the other oranges that have come out this season (like Deborah Lippmann's Lara's Theme, for example), but it is the color of a ripe tangerine, filled with shimmer and so lush it almost makes my mouth water! I giggled as I applied this because it was just so fun!

Unfortunately, as you can see there are a few brush strokes, since this is a frosty foily finish. Still, for a color this magnificent I will deal with a few brushstrokes, because this one is pure love. I applied two coats and was very happy with the finish, and again this polish dried quickly and beautifully. I don't even know how to describe how much I love this polish... it sums up the best parts of summer for me: ripe citrus fruit almost bursting with juice, tantalizing me with the promise of tangy bliss. This polish was well named.

Finally, there's my favorite of the bunch (surprise, TRANQUIL Tangerine wasn't my favorite!)- LOVELY Lavender. I know, I was surprised too! The image that came out with the press release made me think this would be very close to grey, and grey is pretty popular right now!

When I opened the box full of polishes and saw this color, I was absolutely speechless! This wasn't the typical grey you see everywhere, but instead was a lovely desaturated purple, too deep in my opinion to be called lavender, and absolutely begging to be worn!

Application was amazing- this is a one coat polish, and it's as if my nails were painting themselves! I'm even more shocked that I love this color so much because it's a creme- no shimmer anywhere, and yet it's so striking. Even with all the comments about TRANQUIL Tangerine and BOLD Baby Blue, people repeatedly picked this polish out as the stand out of the group, and they laughed when I showed them my right hand, polished entirely in this color.

Even more surprising is I've been wearing this for three days now, and I still love it. I've even been crafting with it (remember the funnels?) and it still looks as lovely as it did when I first applied it. This polish will join the other 5 or 6 bottles that I count as my absolute favorites. It's a mysterious color, unusual and yet incredibly flattering, or so I'm told. It's definitely a keeper!

Since this collection has so many colors I love (and since those metallics were so hard to photo!) I have a couple of additional photos to share. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.

Til next time!
